Julie's Recognition

Julie has always believed that education is more than a profession—it’s a calling. This year, that calling was recognized in a special way when she was honored as Pierce County’s Educator of the Year at the Chamber of Commerce’s annual gala, beautifully themed “A Night in the Pines.” Surrounded by peers, friends, and community members, the evening served as a fitting tribute to a career built on dedication, compassion, and lasting impact.

For 30 years, Julie has shaped young minds as an elementary educator, leaving an imprint that extends far beyond the classroom. Her commitment to her students and her passion for learning have inspired countless children to grow with confidence and curiosity. Recognition like this may mark a milestone, but for those who know Julie, it simply reflects what they’ve seen all along—her unwavering heart for education.

As this school term comes to a close, Julie is preparing for a new chapter: retirement from the classroom. While it’s bittersweet to step away from a career she’s poured so much into, Julie is looking forward to dedicating more of her time to Diamond G and, most importantly, to her family.

We are especially excited for what’s to come at Diamond G and within our community as Julie steps into this new season. She often says she cannot imagine not looking children “eyeball to eyeball” on a regular basis—and we have no doubt she’ll continue to find meaningful ways to connect, encourage, and make a difference in the lives of young people around her.

Julie’s legacy in education will continue to live on in the lives she’s touched, and her next adventure promises to be just as meaningful. Congratulations, Julie, on a well-deserved honor and an incredible career.
